On Wednesday, November 1, Bishop John Stowe blessed the new home of Bobbie and Maggie Stallard, in the town of Ermine in Letcher County. This is one of the four new home constructions which the Diocese of Lexington is co-sponsoring with its community partners in flood-affected areas of Eastern Kentucky.

In addition to the blessing, the day was a celebration of the Diocese’s partnership with Homes, Inc. in Letcher County.

The new home includes a solar-panel system that makes it a ‘net-zero’ house, meaning it brings in as much energy as it will use.

On hand with Bishop John were: Diocese of Lexington Vicar General Fr. Dan Noll; Josh Van Cleef (Director of the Office of Peace and Justice); Catholic Charities of Lexington Board Member Alice Hayes; Deacon Steve Hester (St. Paul Parish, Lexington); and other Diocese of Lexington volunteers.
